The good, the bad and the Mossy
So Kate Moss’s Christmas 2009 collection for Topshop launched today online and instore – and what’s the deal? The first collection was launched to much fanfare, talk of it selling out; Kate’s collection was, quite literally, the next big thing, and would see us all looking and dressing like the venerable Ms Moss.
Well things don’t always turn out as they’re supposed to, and Ms Moss’s items often see the end of the €10 or less sale rails before finally selling out. I’ve never been particularly blown away with her stuff: there’s a lot of vintage inspiration, and where’s the point in that if it costs three times as much as it would in your local Oxfam? There’s also a lot of denim, usually: cut-offs feature highly, and as for the ubiquitous strapless dress, well Kate just can’t get enough of it, which isn’t great news for those of us who are plentiful of chest.
But back to the point at hand: the PR says the new collection is an oriental-inspired one, with pyjamas featuring for the first time (I personally never see the point of splurging on nightwear, but each to their own). To rote, here are my picks:

Chinese dress

Pleated kimono dress

Hawaii dress
The Chinese dress looks a little short, it’s true – and I do generally dislike the one-shouldered effect, but of a collection that seems made up of either very dull pieces or underwear, that’s where I’d go with it. Let me know your thoughts, and check out the full collection here.
