You scratch my back. . .

There have been a few coincidences in my life this week. Firstly, there was that dream. Scroll down to read about it; my embarrassment has finally surfaced and that may be a blog post that I regret, but there’s no point crying over spilled words now, is there?

The newest coincidence is that, on Friday last, I met the lovely Blanaid in the Shelbourne for an upcoming feature I wrote, and we had a great chat, some lovely coffee and delicious biscuits (tiny cranberry and chocolate cookies that come with the coffee, delish). That may sound very ooh la la, but the Shelbourne is a great interview venue. It’s comfy, it’s warm and there’s no loud music for my digital recorder to contend with. Since our meeting, instead of transcribing the interview, which is always pushed back as far as possible, I trawled the interweb for delightful discoveries (as you do).

One of the images I found that pleased my aesthetic sensibilities is this one, which I racked up in my “images to blog about” folder, and continued on my business. Well, Blanaid must have had some profound effect on me, because she just posted this series of images, some of which remind me, in no small part, of the above. Who ever said I wasn’t impressionable?

    Oooh that’s spooky!

The cookies in the Shelbourne were incredible, I think they must now be added to my list of ‘Feel Good Treats.’

Thank you for the lovely, relaxed and very comfortable interview!

Oh you’re more than welcome! Let me know if you’re ever in the capital and at a loose end, we’ll go for coffee and I’ll ask you much nosier questions unrelated to journalism. Ha ha!

I will for sure! I’m always wandering about that place, and I’m making it more permanent in a month or so, if I can loosen my grip on this beautiful, light, cheap, huge apartment in Kilkenny City Centre, and rent a box for the same money in Dublin…

Oh yeah, the rentals are horrific but at least at the moment you know that it’s really the renter’s market (like the buyer’s, I hope…)

I’m seriously thinking about taking advantage of the low buyer’s market! At least then I can make it my own inside etc…

    How is your pur-chayse going?

  6. 6rosemary

My pur-chase is taking a serious back seat to my begging of the banks for the means by which to make said purchase. Doesn’t seem to me like anybody’s lending to anyone who doesn’t already have money… It’s driving me crazy. Watch this space for mortgage updates but at this point I’d say it’ll be 2012 before I get anywhere with it.

I’m going to email you the number of a friend of mine who is just brilliant at sorting out mortgages for people. He’s old-school. No pressure but sure, worth a shot?!

Thanks a mil, and please do!
