Not Jedward, this support is a little bit closer to home for any ladies out there who are more than adequately supplied in the boob department. I remember my very first Wonderbra; it was pink satin, had pads that were probably bigger than my head and did as good a job it could do with what I had to offer it at the time. Nowadays, Wonderbra would rarely be my first port of call when it comes to undergarments. Not only have I passed the age at which it’s cool for your boobs to resemble two large oranges (yes, there is an age limit and if you have to ask, you’ve passed it) but my boobs don’t really need that much help being, well, there.

But I do have problems with the strapless issue. There are so many dresses that call for a strapless bra, and they just don’t seem to offer the kind of support my D-cups are looking for; some come with those clear plastic straps but, trust me, your shoulders will never forgive you if you put them through that blistered agony.

Well Wonderbra has now released the Ultimate Strapless Lace Bra, following on from what its press release describes as the “success of the Ultimate Strapless”. I haven’t tried either, but the new one sure looks lovely.

9323 USL-Black Bra+Thong low resSo on first impressions, the bra looks great – I love the idea of the thicker strap underneath, which is described as silicone banding. The band really is the main problem on a lot of the strapless bras I’ve roadtested over the years – and come on, once that part starts slipping, you’re really on a downward slope (if you’ll excuse the pun).

The bra costs €46, so it’s not the cheapest piece of underwear you’ll ever own, but if it works it could be well worth forking out for. The matching thong is €15 and they’ll be available from the end of this month. Why there’s no brief option, I don’t know; I’ve never been a big thong fan, despite what Sisqo has to say about them.

And no, I don’t know why they felt they had to photoshop the model so much. Her stomach doesn’t even look like a stomach, and is a decidedly different colour to the rest of her body. Bad photoshop? Yes. Good bra? Possibly.

I’ll definitely be checking this one out, and if anyone has any recommendations for strapless bras please, PLEASE, let me know in the comments!

When in Paris I noticed that bra straps were being flaunted. No ensemble was complete without a trimming of le soutien gorge. The strap and the bra were part of le look so much so that I have been searching for coloured bras to match my cardies and blouses ever since!

Interesting… I think there’s definitely something about French style that lets them get away with a lot, to be honest, as French women always look so put together and chic – if I did that I might just end up looking really messy! I guess what I’m really talking about though is completely strapless dresses, some of which just can’t be worn with any strap whatsoever!
