The rain in Ireland falls mainly on the. . . everything

So today I’m going to see Robert Fisk, in conversation with John Bowman, in the National Concert Hall with E (sorry, E, you don’t get an alias). Beforehand we’re going to Milano for dinners (yums!), and it’s lashing rain outside so today’s outfit called for warmth, layers and comfort – I don’t care what anybody says, if you’re sitting down for three hours, jeans are just not comfortable. Check the deets after le jump.

I know I look like I’m taking the piss in these photographs, I got a little What I Wore and did a bit of performing for the camera – there’s something about your Dad taking your photograph in the pouring rain that’ll bring out the laughs. Now a little confession, from me to the world: I totally nicked this scarf idea from Delightfully Tacky. But ain’t it just the darnedest thing? A scarf as a top (kind of) to handily break up your blacks, make your brown boots look great with them and cover your belly, in case you just totally scarfed two toasted cheese sandwiches. Not me, I mean, just in case.

And the details? Black oversized dress and leggings from Zara, brown boots from Topshop (you may have seen me in them before, in black, I love them!), brown belt from Urban Outfitters, assorted bangles from H&M, gold analogue watch from Asos, vintage scarf from my Mama, black long cardigan from Bershka and totally two-tone hair from Queen on Aungier St. Umbrella, from my Mama again. Oh and lipstick! My new favourite thing. Mine is from Smashbox; I got totally inspired by some girl I saw on the bus the other day, and from watching 90210 all day long yesterday and realising those hot girls wear lipstick AND eyeshadow, TOGETHER. So yeah, check me out. All made up. Over and out!

Great outfit! I use scarves to cover my belly all the time ;-) but never thought putting a belt over one – love it.

Your expression in the last two photos is particularly delightful. :) And I think that scarf idea is excellent, will try it out for sure.

Hi, pretty! You look great all made up. I used to be a great one for experimenting with make-up but these days I am a lazy madam and play it safe – I rarely even differentiate between daytime and going out make-up.

The scarf idea is inspired. I have oodles of vintage scarves – I’ll have to try a few new looks with the above in mind!

SileC, thanks but, as I said, I stoled the idea :-D
Coastal, thanks a mil. Defo try it out, I’ve never felt more comfy for a night of sitting down!
Zee, I am exactly the same, my mates constantly say “you don’t really wear make-up do you?” which I think is down to the fact that I wear the exact same neutrals, day in, day out. Just wanted to mix it up a little today – to tell the truth my skin isn’t looking too great so I often feel dark eyes and a bright lip distracts!

Swit swoo you look fab!! Will be totally nicking that scarf idea of you!!

Its_ams, feel free! As I said I totally nicked it off someone else!

I love this look! I need to invest in a few more scarves and get practising. Have also got back into lipstick recently for the first time since my teens (when my face looked like an explosion in a Rimmel factory).
