This is why I shouldn’t be at home, alone, with the internet

Because I go online shopping. Last week’s Topshop and Asos splurges weren’t enough – photographs of purchases tomorrow, now that I have all this free time in my PJs, snuffling around the house – but now I have to scour the interwebs for more dresses. I really don’t need more dresses. This little doll, however, has been catching my eye. Following a full page dedicated to it in this month’s UK Marie Claire, I have fallen much in love but can’t tell how amazing it will be on, and it’s not cheap: £125. Check it out on the Miss Selfridge website for various views.

MissSelfridgedressA word of caution: there is something about the cold, and the impending arrival of Christmas, that means I always fall hook, line and sinker for sequins. And while I do love the odd sequin, I must be careful – I currently have very 1980s hair, so must stay away from all things 1980s lest I overdo the trend. That includes shoulderpads, excessive sequins, neon . . . I need help. To buy, or not to buy? (Or do I start that thing that I’ve been meaning to start and stop shopping the high street, instead opting for higher end purchases with longer staying power? Sigh. Life’s big questions.)

Oh, sequins… me too… But then I always feel a bit daft when I go for a night out and discover that whatever sequinned yoke I’m wearing is part of an agreed Nov/Dec uniform for every other woman in the place.

I did spot a kitschy little green sequinned miniskirt in Dunnes today though that I might have to go back for… Hmm, my wardrobe would have a lot less frivolous tat in it if the place where I buy my groceries after work didn’t also sell sequinned miniskirts! And €16 purple velvet shoe boots too, for that matter…

It is a lovely dress…you could probably get away with wearing it with your hairstyle if you keep everything else understated :)

I was totally against the 80′s in the beginning but it is growing on me too…somebody told me that 80′s are infectious.
