LoveLaraStone

Here is Lara Stone, the “plus-sized” model, gracing the latest cover of Katie Grand’s Love, which is dedicated to fashion icons. Why we need to see Stone’s breasts, over and over again, is beyond me – but I shouldn’t be complaining, because they are, quite frankly, divine. Iconic, one could say. Will Love be any good?

I picked up the last issue, with a variety of people gracing the covers – it was, said the strap, the young blood issue. Did I love it? Not really. It seemed a little confused, as if it was trying to out-postmodern postmodernism by refusing to define itself by any tangible parameters. That’s all very arty, but it became difficult to read (especially when the Geldofs were let loose on the pages) by about page 30, and nigh impossible by halfway through. The editorials are amazing – Grand has a talent – but the copy seemed erratic, almost druggedly so, with no real direction and no clear purpose.

Will I get it again? Of course I will – to add to the ever-growing pile of magazines on my diningroom table that I should be reading right now, instead of blogging. Sigh.

If you’re in Dublin, Eason on O’Connell Street usually stocks the lesser-spotted magazine variety, including Love, Pop, i-D and Teen Vogue.

Love is definetely taking its time to find its feet. im pretty sure i got the last issue and nothing really left an impression, in comparision practically every page of the tavi pop issue is imprinted on the brain esp the different pull outs. I think it may actually be a mistake to put stone on the cover, it already feels like love is struggling to catch up, so why feature someone who’s been on so many covers recently?

I don’t know, and I’m not on the Stone bandwagon at all. Grand, she’s a model, but she doesn’t seem to me to be an especially amazing model. Perhaps I’m wrong, but I feel she has a certain novelty value tied intrinsically to her boobs. Like Gisele in her heyday. Pop didn’t float my boat either, although it sure was pretty.

She’s quiet close to being a Barbie really with that body…yes I am a little jealous! ;)
