Style file: why I shouldn’t wear hats
I have a really big face, okay? So when I cover up my also-quite-big hair with a hat, my face looks even bigger. Lesson learned. Then again, yesterday was freezing and 20 minutes with my feet practically stuck in the car heater didn’t warm me up, so I reserve the right to look fat-faced.
I love this skirt and had only worn it once, so I wanted to haul it out again and pair it with some clashing patterns (stripes!). The top is actually a dress that shrank in the wash (ahem – not great quality perhaps?!) so I wear it under skirts now, as I’m waiting to get the time to have it taken up to long T-shirt length. I just wanted to go for warm (body-con is perfect for retaining heat) and a little clashy-patterny!
Floral skirt from Asos, striped dress (worn as tee) from French Connection, sailor cardigan from Penneys (really cute sailor buttons too!), blue pashmina from one of those stalls on European street corners, blue tights (worn over thick black tights from Dunnes) from Marks & Spencer and brown boots from Topshop. The bag is by Diane von Furstenberg and gorgeous, if really heavy once you even put your wallet into it!
As you may have guessed, the weather doesn’t look to be improving at all here in Ireland. We’ve had snow for four days straight and it’s like all of our infrastructure has collapsed! Buses aren’t running, gritters aren’t gritting, people are skidding out of housing estates and onto main roads like there’s no tomorrow. I’ve cancelled all my plans for today and will be riding out the storm a casa, lest I unleash my bad ice-driving on the world!

I think there’s a hat for everyone! Maybe you should try one with a rim? Or a slouchy beret so you can pull one side over your face a little? Not that it looks fat at all!:)

Thanks Tor! I do have a few slouchier hats that do look much better and leave a lot more hair sticking out, but yesterday was soooo cold that the welded-to-the-head variety was my only option!

Doesn’t look like you have a big face! Wearing a hat is very wise at the momento.
I’m fed up of the cold weather and I’m a winter person! Just a bit warmer weather would be good.

Oh I do love a good style file! Almost as much as that heavenly skirt
