I am not a high-maintenance makeup gal. Five days of the week, you’ll find me pretty much bare-faced all day long – but that doesn’t mean that I’m not into beauty products, especially when it comes to skincare. I have a pretty fun routine that I’m kind of digging right now, and a few essential products that are making it all the more enjoyable.
Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser
I use this cleanser morning and night – to remove makeup and to cleanse my skin (I’ll usually do a double rinse) and I love it. It is really mildly scented, it is so gentle and comforting on my skin and I can use it to clean my entire eye area without even the slightest sting. The one downside is that, for now anyway, it’s only available in the US – but it is launching in the UK soon and, once I can get ’em delivered to me at home, I’ll be stocking up! (And yes, I’ve talked about Glossier before. More than once.)
Sunday Riley U.F.O. Facial Oil
Pic credit: The Wedding Affair
I bought this Sunday Riley oil (not to be confused with the other Sunday Riley Oil, Artemis, that I love) a few months ago – and did a video on my Net-a-Porter haul – and have since been using it around twice a week, focusing on my T-zone. Sunday Riley’s U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Facial Oil is designed for blemishes and blackheads and I really do think it’s been clearing up the large, open pores around my nose. And yes, it’s super pricey, but I save so much on not wearing a lot of makeup that I feel like I can indulge in some fancy skincare!
Kinvara Eye Wow Eye Serum
I don’t think I have talked about this before on my blog – finally, something new! – but Kinvara’s Eye Wow Eye Serum is incredibly, incredibly lovely. It’s in a lovely glass phial with a super cooling metal rollerball, it feels really soothing going around the eye area and it’s fragrance-free, which I like – because a lot of my skincare isn’t fragrance-free and, honestly, I just want to smell like my perfume! (Miu Miu.)
Lush bath bombs
Do these count as beauty products? Perhaps not – but I adore them. And, I will say this: every single time I mention Lush bath bombs on social media I get approximately five messages telling me to watch out for thrush or urinary tract infections. Honest truth? I am very prone to getting thrush. Ever since I gave up wheat (90% of the time) and dairy (85% of the time), I very rarely get thrush – and I have never, ever got thrush after using a bath bomb. So, y’know, that may be an urban legend. Just don’t go sticking a bath bomb into your vagina and I think you’ll be fine.
Also, a top tip: don’t buy Lush online, because the postage is quite high. Just go into the shop. (I, unlike so many others, adore the smell of Lush shops also. So there.)
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream SPF 30
Here’s another product I use every single day, without fail – and adore. I’d never used a Kiehl’s facial cream before now (why?! I have no clue), but when I was sent the new broad spectrum SPF version of their bestselling Ultra Facial Cream, I thought, sure, why not give it a try? Now I wouldn’t be without it. It’s really moisturising but also very light, absorbs easily and makes my skin feel plump and hydrated but not greasy (it’s a fine line). When this runs out, I will definitely be repurchasing (although I’m only about 20% of the way through and I’ve been using it for at least a month, so it may be a while!).
*Okay, fine – I’ll grant you: I might live without them. But I wouldn’t be happy about it!
