Newflash! Coach’s A/W campaign makes the twee US brand look kind of deadly

July 17, 2014

It’s fair to say that Coach hasn’t been cool in a long, long time. In fact, you could argue that Coach has never been cool – despite the fact that, at various times in history, misguided people (myself included) have thought it was cool. See also: what’s happening with Michael Kors right now.

Enlisting Steven Meisel to shoot your autumn/winter campaign is one sure way to up the cool factor, as these slick ad campaigns from the US super-brand show – in fact, I’d go so far as to say I’d kind of love to own that burgundy bag, top, and wouldn’t really turn my nose up at many of the items on show in these photographs (especially that sheepskin jacket – amazing).

The proof, of course, will be in the sales – and it’s unlikely that the fash pack will come crowding around Coach after this small indicator of a reputation shift. If that comes, it’ll be a few seasons down the line. Still, there’s definitely something interesting afoot. Watch this space…
