So I wrote my Santa letter . . .

Dear Santa,

I want you to know that I’ve had a very hard year. I lost my regular job, had to sell my lovely car to pay my tax, had a recurrence of my depression and went back on medication. But I’ve been very good at getting on with things – I found other work, got another car (which then got vandalised, adding it to column a), feel much better personally and have ultimately been VERY GOOD.

For Christmas I would be happy with any gift, big or small, but in case you need ideas I thought I’d give you a little list:

PS I know it’s very early for a Santa letter, but my personal Santas are currently on vacation in America – so I thought it best to afford them the opportunity to avail of duty free.

PPS In case you wondered about my parents’ response . . .

Undeliverable to recipient due to age of sender causing failure of credence check.

Best regards,

Chief Elf.

Sure they are spending all their money in America. Looks like you will have to find some really generous friends. Love the reply 😉

  1. I can’t wait until our personal chief elf can send same response. Do Lidl do imitation chocolate oranges just as a matter of interest…?

As I believe you know by now, Lidl does the REAL THING! In all its technicolour glory. I’ll have one in each colour, thx.

I am so sorry (and shocked) to read that you suffer from depression. You are always so bubbly & uplifting on Xpose and I think you are amazing on Midday. You always come across so down to earth. I also love your section in the Irish times and your website.
Anyways, I have no idea why I started to write this comment,(I don’t even know you, in my defence you seem super approachable! and quite humorous!) other than the fact that I think you are amazing at what you do, inspirational actually; I know I amongst others have been inspired to try new styles and play around with fashion after reading your column or seeing you on Xpose.
I sincerely hope you receive everything on your Christmas wish list, (loved the article!) but more so, I wish you continued success and progression in your chosen profession and all the happiness in the world (oh and that you kick depression’s a## also!). Thanks for being so real and brightening up many a “Midday”/ 6:30pm!

    Warmest wishes,

Laura, that is so incredibly lovely to read – thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I think what this whole “journey” has taught me is that even the most positive / outgoing people can suffer from depression, so I try not to be too surprised by people’s revelations any more – you never can tell! x
